The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) maintains more lane-miles of roads per maintenance employee than any other state in the country. Along these roads, nearly 2,200 regulatory and warning signs direct and alert motorists on state highways throughout the NDDOT’s Bismarck District in south central North Dakota.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation has selected Stanley Consultants to visually assess the condition of all regulatory and warning signs through the Bismarck District that are older than ten years to determine if replacement is necessary. Each sign will be inspected for compliance with highway sign standards and specifications. The firm will also prepare a Phase I environmental study to determines the impact of sign replacement, and provide design services for any signs that require replacement. Field data will be gathered using tablets and mobile technology, and GPS mapping will be used to identify sign location.
The company has significant experience with signage assessment and design, having completed several signage projects for the Utah Department of Transportation and the City of Elgin, Illinois.
