Salt Lake City, Utah – The Jordan River Pedestrian Bridge has been named a winner in the ENR Mountain States’ 2018 Best Projects competition. Designed by Stanley Consultants, the bridge received a Merit Award in the Highway/Bridge category.

The 1,200-foot-long, 12-span pedestrian bridge and adjoining trail is the long anticipated final link to the Jordan River Parkway. The extensive trail system, with its many connections, now spans 106 miles through 34 cities from Ogden to Provo without stopping for traffic.  It gives Utah the distinction of having the longest continuous trail network west of the Mississippi and the second largest connected trial system in the nation.  According to Utah Business Magazine, the completed trail system cements Utah as a national leader in outdoor recreation and active transportation.

Located in Salt Lake City, the 14-foot-wide bridge spans three rail lines in an active rail yard and precisely negotiates through a narrow stretch next to a large Rocky Mountain Power substation. The $6 million project was funded by Salt Lake City and County, the state of Utah and the Jordan River Commission.
