John Prescher, P.E., has been selected as a recipient of the 2011 Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine's 40 Under 40 Award. Prescher, age 35, is a senior mechanical engineer, project manager and the Mechanical Department Manager at Stanley Consultants' Minneapolis office.
This national award is given to just 40 building industry engineers under the age of 40 who stand out in their academic, professional, personal, and community achievements. Candidates were nominated by a professional colleague, and were judged based on their commitment to excellence in a variety of areas.
Prescher joined Stanley Consultants after graduating from South Dakota State University with a master's degree in mechanical engineering. Shortly thereafter he made his first international trip, travelling to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). There he assisted with chiller, cooling tower, chilled water pipe sizing, and chilled water pipe routing for a master planning project at the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Prescher became a LEED Accredited Professional in 2006. An acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, LEED is an internationally-recognized green building certification system which provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. Prescher is also a licensed professional engineer in multiple states and a member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers).
