The Iowa Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) recognized Davenport's Credit Island Lodge Reconstruction Project as Project of the Year in the Disaster/Emergency Reconstruction /Repair, $1M to $2.5M category. The APWA award follows earlier project recognition from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Iowa and ACEC National for the Grand Award (1st place) and National Recognition Award in their annual Engineering Excellence competitions respectively.

Davenport Iowa's Credit Island Lodge, located on the Mississippi River, was built in the late ‘20s. After 80 years, the Lodge was closed due to frequent river flooding and then severely damaged by fire in 2013.  the City of decided to save the lodge, yet had a limited budget.

The award-winning design solution allows floodwaters flow through the building using an innovative vent system and allowing for easy cleanup after the water recedes. Focusing on reuse and cleaning in public access areas,  fire-damaged materials were removed and additional cost-effective facility improvements were completed, to the delight of the community.
