John Lazzara named Stanley Consultants Chicago regional transportation group manager

Lazzara_John_HR.jpgChicago Stanley Consultants, a worldwide provider of engineering, environmental and construction services, hired John Lazzara to head its Chicago transportation operations. Lazzara, regional transportation group manager,is tasked with expanding the firm’s Midwest transportation footprint. 

Lazzara, a 31-year veteran of the transportation engineering design industry, is both a published author and presenter of technical transportation engineering papers. As a project manager his expertise includes traffic analysis, environmental impact statements, intersection and interchange design, pavement analysis and public involvement programs. Noting that Stanley Consultantshas a strong track record with such clients as the City of Chicago, Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Lazzara will also focus on states such as Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri and Michigan.  

“Indiana and Illinoisrecently passed transportation funding legislation to address its infrastructure needs. This presents an excellent opportunity for Stanley Consultants to providehigh quality professional engineering services to meet the growing public demand,” Lazzara said. “Stanley Consultants is positioned to assist with planning, design and construction management expertise.” 

Stanley Consultants will bring expertise to both reconstruction and new projects for roadways and structures, he added. Stanley Consultants will leverage an innovative approach, using 3D software, sustainable smart corridor design and intelligent transportation technology to create efficiencies. 

Stanley Consultants is embracing visualization innovation by launching its Advanced Visualization Solutions Program. Visualization technology employed includes building information modeling (BIM), virtual, augmented and mixed reality. 

We’ll be developing smart corridors that take advantage of automated and connected vehicle technology, starting with truck platooning but also moving people more efficiently,” Lazzara said, explaining that smart corridors have features such as increased information communications and fully capable power sources
