Provo Westside Connector Named Utah Public Works Project of the Year

Provo Westside Connector.JPGPROVO, Utah – Provo’s Lakeview Parkway, also known as the Westside Connector, has been named Project of the Year by the Utah Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA).

The 3.7 mile connecting road opened in October 2016, providing a much-needed direct route from I-15 to Provo municipal airport.  The connector also increases regional mobility to the growing neighborhoods in southwest Provo and opens the entire west side of the valley to further residential and commercial expansion.

Horrocks Engineers designed the road with Stanley Consultants, a global consulting engineering firm, providing construction inspection services.  It was constructed by Sunroc Construction and Ames Construction.

Deemed as a project that would help boost the economy, the $39 million project was 1 of 14 infrastructure projects nationwide expedited for environmental review and permitting by the Obama administration in 2011.  The $39 million project was a partnership between the City of Provo and the Utah Department of Transportation.
