Stanley Consultants add smart grid, power delivery expert in Atlanta office

Lancaster_Mark_HR.jpgAtlantaStanley Consultants, a worldwide provider of engineering, environmental and construction services, has hired Mark Lancaster as senior project manager and principal electrical engineer in the firm’s Atlanta office.

Lancaster, P.E. MBA, is a collaborative technical leader with expertise in project engineering, research and development and plant operations and maintenance with extensive experience improving operational efficiency across a range of businesses and technologies. A subject matter expert and prolific author, he has obtained six U.S. patents for electrical power cable and power line rating systems.

Lancaster will be tasked with executing projects in the power delivery market in the Southeast but will also support Stanley Consultants transmission and smart cities design services. Smart grid design is another strength. He has experience with utility grid sensors and data acquisition, asset management and digital transformation.

Lancaster said clients are feeling pressured to integrate new power sources and control technologies.

Clients, large and small, need assistance in planning, evaluating, selecting and integrating new technologies,” Lancaster said. The key to successful integration of intelligent technologies is the development of an overall implementation plan. Typically, utilities implement new technologies in one-off islands of automation, never benefiting from the full value of their investments.”

Lancaster explained that smart grid success goes beyond technical requirements, to developing a business case and setting metrics that demonstrate the value realized by clients.

Lancaster joined Stanley Consultants after working with the firm’s engineers in his previous positions. He said that the firm’s wide range of expertise and strong customer relations history positions it well to meet client needs.

“The company has a strong tradition of excellence in serving the electric utility industry.  I believe working at Stanley Consultants will allow me to contribute to our industry’s and customers’ growth and success.”
