Meals from the Heartland
Des Moines members were recently found participating at the nation’s largest volunteer food packaging effort. Led by Meals from the Heartland, thousands of volunteers came over four days, resulting in the packaging of over five million meals. Meals from the Heartland provides pre-packaged food to people with food insecurities and to several food distribution partners, sharing food throughout the world. The Des Moines team packed over 1, 150 meals in two hours. Community Service Champion Sabrina Krichel says, “We had great fun, and were honored to be able to participate, hats and all!”
