Road Widening Project Wins Partnering Award

May 10, 2012

The Ellsworth Road widening project won the 2012 Arizona Transportation Partnering Award. This prestigious award recognizes partnership teams that demonstrate a high degree of achievement through their practice of the partnering principles and application of the partnering processes related to the transportation industry.

Ellsworth Road is a major thoroughfare to and from the growing southeast valley's residential developments and Florence, Coolidge and Tucson.  Stanley Consultants was selected to provide construction administration, full-time inspection, and construction staking on the $15 million project, which included roadway widening and reconstruction on Ellsworth Road between Cloud Road and Hunt Highway.

This project was funded by Maricopa County DOT, the Town of Queen Creek, and Pinal County.  This grouping meant that partnering would be a crucial factor in the success of this project for several reasons, 1) coordination and teamwork needed with multiple project funding partners involved in the decision making process.  2)  The complexity of building this roadway with all of the utility conflicts that could have derailed this project.  3)  Keeping the residents and business owners as content as possible during the total reconstruction.
