Boiler Plant Upgrades
Stanley Consultants was contracted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to complete a study of the central heating plant including cost estimates and life cycle cost analysis of the options provided for renovation and upgrade of the boiler systems. Stanley Consultants was responsible for providing design of instrumentation and control system for three 20,000 lb/hr (200 psi, 387°F) water tube, single burner, dual fuel boilers (natural gas and No. 2 fuel oil) and auxiliary systems including, but not limited to, condensate receiver, No. 2 fuel oil pumps, water treatment equipment, and balance-of-plant control system upgrade.
Design deliverables included demolition plans, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), instrument location plans, control panel layout and schematic design, instrument installation details, specifications, control system description, instrument index, cable schedule, and I/O list.
Stanley Consultants completed a study of the central heating plant including cost estimates and life cycle cost analysis of the options provided for renovation and upgrade of the boiler systems. Upon completion of the study, Stanley Consultants provided design and construction services for the replacement of three gas-fired water tube boilers and feedwater economizers, the boiler feedwater treatment system, the condensate receiver system, and the fuel oil pumping system.
