Fast-Track Design of I-70 Reconstruction

Stanley Consultants worked with the The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to fast-track the roadway and bridge designer for a section beginning west of Illinois Route 1 and extending to the Indiana state line using risk management and formal partnering procedures.

This $74 million project, one of the largest downstate interstate reconstruction projects conducted by IDOT, involved the reconstruction of 10 miles of the 33-year-old pavement.  As part of IDOT's Demonstration Project, the highway was reconstructed using pavements designed for a 30-year life cycle.  The project included several new specifications to enhance the performance and durability of the concrete pavement and structures.
