Grid Reliability Analysis for Food Distributor

Client:

Confidential Food Distributor

Project Type:

Environmental & Regulatory

Location:

United States

Key Takeaways

Temperatures Challenging Food Production

Temperatures are challenging food producers to keep production schedules at production locations.

A Multi-Million Dollar Threat

The potential interruption of production due to loss of power can result in loss of crops and production.

Supply Interruptions Are Realistic

Rising temperatures are challenging traditional supply areas requiring new producers.

About the Project

Securing grid reliability for food processing centers

Grid reliability is critical for continuous operations of food processing centers. The failure of power service can lead to loss of product in a matter of hours. The objective for this organization was to understand the risks to its processing centers including extreme heat and precipitation events. Additionally, it was important to know the resilience of the supply base for long-term operations.

Resilient Analytics was the physical risk consultant in this effort with the responsibility to analyze grid reliability risk for a portfolio of processing locations. The team was tasked with delivering an evaluation for each location on the likelihood of extreme heat and precipitation events. Short-term and mid-term projections were required for financial reporting.
