Al Dhafra Air Base Force Protection

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contracted with Stanley Consultants to design an Air Defense Site and Cantonment Area to replace an existing temporary camp and provide force protection to USAF personnel.

The Al Dhafra Air Base is a military installation operated by the United Arab Emirates Air Force.  It is located 20 miles south of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The 380th Air Expeditionary Wing of the United States Air Force is housed at the base.

The project included housing, dining, recreation, administrative, medical, fire, communications, security, post office, AAFES, and morale facilities. Also included were all the required site development facilities to support the proposed buildings such as electrical, communications, chilled water system, potable water (including water storage), wastewater collection, fire protection, and paved parking and access roads.

Stanley Consultants provided design-bid-build documents, including drawings, specifications, design analysis, construction duration schedule, and a cost estimate for all of these facilities. These facilities were designed in accordance with force protection standards, and in accordance with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District's Design Instruction Manual.

"Stanley Consultants did an excellent job on this design task order from the information gathering stage to arranging and hosting the design reviews.  Stanley Consultants personnel worked in a professional manner and were very helpful finding solutions to issues that were encountered during the design process.  Their design team members were receptive to the Government's requirements and concerns and were genuinely internested in creating a better product for the end user".
