Denver Office Quilt Guild
Denver members Cindy Monserud, Kelly Clark, and Roxann Bennett are members of the Parker Piece Keepers Quilt Guild in Parker Colorado. As part of the quilt guild, they hone and grow their quilting skills, provide education to the community concerning quilting and other fabric arts, and use their skills to help support various charities.
In 2012, the guild made and donated 443 quilts and other items to charitable entities, as well as supporting a local food bank. For victims of the 2012 and 2013 wildfires, this guild joined an effort to make sure every family and every child received a quilt. Children who are fighting cancer at the Parker Adventist Children’s Hospital Cancer Unit and Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colorado received baseball caps, headscarves, quilts, and fleece blankets. Baby gift baskets were made for families stationed at the Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora. Lap sized quilts were made and donated to the Parker Adventist’s Hospital to be given away as needed, many to patients who upon release do not have local family to come home to. This is just a sampling of the ways these members have used their skills to make a difference in their community. It is much more than needle and thread, fabric and design, it is an opportunity to grow and share a special skill, providing a quilt with the warmth of a caring community.
