West Palm Beach Habitat for Humanity
On the last Saturday of each month, members of the West Palm Beach office can be found volunteering at the South Palm Beach Habitat for Humanity. Renaud Olivier, the West Palm Beach Office Community Service Champion, said the activities will include home construction, concrete and block wall construction, framing, roofing, drywall, landscaping, and painting.
The homes are located in a neighborhood once battered by hurricanes Frances and Jeanne. The land was purchased, and in a collaborative venture between the South Palm Beach Habitat for Humanity, the Boynton Beach Faith Based Community Development Corporation, and the City of Boynton Beach, a 21-home development is being constructed.
One breezy Saturday morning, Renaud Olivier, Chad Newton, and Michael Penn were helping to nail down a roof. "It is a great opportunity to give a little bit back to the community that has given so much," said Renaud. "We enjoyed the experience to give back and look forward to the next opportunity to give even more. We all became very intimate with our hammers that day and it was very motivating to see how all the volunteers became a team to complete the roof build."
