August 8, 2013

The Iowa Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) named it Project of the Year in the Disaster or Emergency Construction/Repair, Less than $5 Million Category.

Located in Davenport, Iowa, the project has also received a National Recognition Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies and a Grand Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Iowa.

The project includes an innovative removable floodwall that protects the baseball stadium to a 250-year flood. Combined with new permanent approach by placing a removable bridge that provides pedestrian access across the floodwater to the stadium, the project simultaneously protects the stadium from flooding and keeps the ball in play.

One of the three longest installations of its type in North America, the entire wall can be installed by six people in less than one-day.
