Travis Glynn Voice of the Engineer Award Iowa Engineering Society

July 21, 2021

The Iowa Engineering Society named Travis Glynn, mechanical engineer with Stanley Consultants, the recipient of its Voice of the Engineer Award for 2021. The Voice of the Engineer award recognizes contributions to the enhancement of the image of the engineering profession, through involvement with the general or targeted publics.

Glynn, P.E., 37, is a senior mechanical engineer with Stanley Consultants in Muscatine. With bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Iowa State, his resume features
high temperature water systems, steam piping systems, steam blow piping systems, fuel gas piping
systems, hydrogen bulk storage systems and chilled water systems. He is an expert in both static and dynamic pipe stress analysis.

Glynn said he realized that through his work, he was providing a tangible good for people in helping them to meet their basic needs. That stirred a desire in him to do more.

“That’s where I make my meaning in life,” says Travis. “I want to be able to help people and I think that’s more important than anything else.”

To this end, he is serving his second four-year term supporting the commissioners of the Muscatine County Soil and Water Conservation District. The commission works to protect, conserve and restore natural resources by promoting soil conservation and improving water quality. Beyond reviewing funding requests, audit responsibilities and communicating new programs to the public, Travis also recently joined the Lower Cedar River Watershed Management Authority Board to further the work of the commission.
