About the Project
Morton Grove-Niles Water Transmission Facility
A cost-saving water contract between the Morton Grove-Niles Water Commission and City of Evanston, Illinois, necessitated the design and construction of a 10-mile-long water transmission main in just two years. The commission selected Stanley Consultants as program manager. This included designing 10 miles of 20-inch and 30-inch diameter water transmission main, two 12.7-million-gallons per day pump stations and at 7 million gallons, one of the country’s tallest prestressed concrete standpipes.
Completing the award-winning project within the condensed time frame required tremendous coordination between the commission, six engineering firms, 18 external stakeholders, 15 easement-granting landowners and the Illinois EPA.
Now over 50,000 Morton Grove and Niles residents receive safe, high-quality water at a stable rate.
