New Transmission Lines and Wind Projects in East Central North Dakota
Stanley Consultants was selected to provide detailed design and engineering; and construction services for this 61-mile 230 kV transmission line wind generation tie, switching station and existing substation.
Stanley Consultants provided preliminary transmission line modeling to support permit submittals, public meetings and to provide preliminary estimates and material bid specifications for procurement of long-lead-time equipment. Once the route was selected, the detailed engineering packages were developed, including electrical, civil and structural packages, and provided construction contract support, including writing the RFP and evaluating construction bids. During construction, line-staking services, on-call technical support, and full-time construction inspection were provided.
The project also included design and construction services support for the new 230 kV Pillsbury Substation. In addition, the detailed design was completed for 9.5 miles of single-circuit 230 kV transmission line from a collector substation into the new Pillsbury substation. These new transmission lines interconnect with several wind projects in east central North Dakota, and provide transfer of over 400 MW of wind-generated power.
