Complex 345 kV Center Red River Transmission Line Project for Minnkota Power Coop
Stanley Consultants was hired to provide detailed design engineering, corridor and route selection, land acquisition, survey, project scheduling and controls, and construction management services to develop 260 miles of single-circuit 345 kV transmission line
The complexity of this $20+ million project was substantial. The design included a 2,600+- foot Missouri River crossing, two other smaller river crossings and 18 utility crossings.
Along with the output of a coal-fired power plant, this new transmission line interconnects several proposed wind projects in the east central part of the state. Combined, this new transmission line will transfer over 1,700 MW.
Stanley Consultants successfully provided several services to meet this client's need, including transmission line modeling, permit submittals, public meetings, material bid specifications, route selection, and detailed electrical, civil and structural engineering packages. During construction, we also provided line staking, on-call technical support, and full-time construction inspection.
