Enhancing Data Center Resilience Through Grid Reliability Analysis

Grid reliability is critical for continuous operations of data centers. Specifically, grid reliability for data centers that support global operations of every type of organization is essential to avoid loss of service. The objective for this organization was to understand the risks to its global data centers including extreme heat and precipitation events, sea level rise and storm surge.

Resilient Analytics was the physical risk consultant in this effort with the responsibility to analyze extreme event conditions for a portfolio of global locations. The team was tasked with delivering an evaluation for each location on the likelihood of grid threatening events. Short-term and mid-term projections were included for strategic planning at each location.

Resilient Analytics combined physical risk modeling with sea level rise risk evaluations to determine grid reliability to each data center. The team worked with the client to develop specific risk thresholds to set levels of risk for each location. The team delivered reliability risk assessments for each site and established grid reliability as part of its core toolbox offerings for clients.
