About the Project

Engineers, planners prepare Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska for combat, F-35A deployment

Eielson Air Force Base’s roots trace back to 1943 when the Japanese invaded the Aleutian Islands and the “Air Bridge” was necessitated by the Russian Lend-Lease program in World War II. Today the base located 23 miles south of Fairbanks is being transformed from a five-months-a-year training base and cold weather test site into a training base and a full fighting wing on a year-round basis. Stanley Consultants and its joint venture partners are playing a major role in the $560 million renovation and expansion of Eielson. Like it had done before in places such as Louisiana, Afghanistan and Iraq, the joint venture team demonstrated its ability to rapidly mobilize personnel on-site at a remote location to manage a large, complex design and construction program with multiple stakeholders.
