About the Project
Global Logistics Risk Assessment for Severe Weather
Understanding the potential for severe weather events is a key element of planning for logistics organizations. These events not only create a greater need for logistics assistance, but they also create shipping and distribution interruptions for the logistics company. A logistics company requires long-term projections to establish or alter areas where services are provided.
Resilient Analytics was the physical risk consultant in this effort with the responsibility to analyze extreme storm risks to over 100 global locations. The team was tasked with delivering a risk assessment for each location in both 2030 and 2050 under mid-range and high emissions scenarios. Each risk assessment was required to integrate with the client's financial reporting requirements.
Resilient Analytics utilized its large-scale inventory techniques to analyze each location for physical risks under the multiple scenarios and time slices. The team developed extreme event thresholds that were necessary to analyze threats to locations throughout the global network. The team also delivered coastal risk assessments where appropriate. The team found important vulnerabilities in multiple areas.
