Boulder County Marshall Fire Recovery

On December 30, 2021, a fire destroyed over 1,000 homes and damaged another 1,000 in Boulder County. Rebuilding required local, state and national resources. It also required a focus on assisting those who did not have the resources to rebuild on their own. To support this effort, an interactive platform was required to visually identify the locations of houses needing assistance.

Resilient Analytics was the lead consultant responsible for creating a GIS interface. This interface conveyed the socio-economic conditions of each parcel, the conditions after the fire and included a search capability to find households with specific attributes. The platform needed to cater to multiple departments with users of varying GIS expertise and have the ability to incorporate new data.

Resilient Analytics extended its GIS interface to meet the compressed schedule. New search functionality was developed to work at an individual parcel level. New visualization techniques were adopted to provide easy identification of complex search results. Multiple evaluation criteria were developed to assist in the identification of households requiring assistance.
