RAF Lakenheath F-35A Beddown

Royal Air Force Lakenheath was named the first U.S. European beddown location for the F-35A in December 2015 by the Office of the Secretary of Defense. The U.S. Air Force’s 48th Fighter Wing (48 FW), the installation management executive, began planning a construction program that included 20 military construction (MILCON) projects and another 10 facility, sustainment, restoration and modernization projects. The 48 FW retained Leidos, with Stanley Consultants as a principal subconsultant, to provide on-site program and project management services.  Together, the two firms enabled the delivery of over $800 million in design and construction of facilities and infrastructure for the F-35A beddown, medical treatment facility recapitalization, DoDEA High School and AAFES Exchange at RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. Leidos, with subconsultant Stanley, initially mobilized four personnel to manage the program, increasing in number to the present 16 personnel embedded in the 48 FW Program Integration Office (PIO).
