Illinois Route 47 Reconstruction

To help improve the safety and vitality of the Village of Huntley, Stanley Consultants coordinated with the Illinois DOT, McHenry and Kane Counties, and the Village to widen 2.7 miles of IL Illinois Route 47. The existing two-lane roadway was reconstructed and widened into a four-lane roadway with improved turn lanes at major intersections, including at-grade railroad crossings at the Main Street intersection. Village officials, as well as business and property owners, were consulted on ways to improve and maintain access to shopping, which encourages economic growth. Other improvements included traffic signal modernization, new lighting, and a bridge replacement over the South Branch of the Kishwaukee River.
