Rubén Bichara: Punta Catalina Has Insured Resources for Its Completion

The executive vice president of the Dominican Corporation of State Electrical Companies (CDEEE), Ruben Jimenez Bichara, said Tuesday that with the issuance of US $ 600 million in sovereign bonds plus financing resources from the pool of European banks (SACE), the Punta Catalina generation project is guaranteed the necessary resources for its completion.

"With those resources, plus those coming from the European bank pool, the cash flow certainty for Punta Catalina is guaranteed. These resources reach their completion, "said the head of the CDEEE.

The official said that the US $ 100 million that are contemplated as financing for Punta Catalina in the project of reformulation of the budget of 2016 are part of the US $ 600 million previously approved by the National Congress.

He announced that the Punta Catalina plants, with a combined capacity of 720 megawatts, will be ready by the middle of 2018. The head of the CDEEE recalled that the design and supervision of the Punta Catalina thermoelectric project is carried out by the North American firm Stanley Consultants, a company with more than 100 years of experience that has designed about 50 projects with the same characteristics of Punta Catalina.
