Kirk Rabius to drive smart cities engineering at Stanley Consultants

rabius.jpgDenver – Kirk Rabius, P.E., will lead the smart cities program at Stanley Consultants. In his position as asset manager/smart cities leader, Rabius will engage engineers and scientists from Stanley Consultant’s widespread markets, including transportation, the federal government, energy, environment, civil engineering, stormwater, and water treatment. Stanley Consultants is a worldwide provider of engineering, environmental and construction services.

Rabius led previous smart city efforts at Jacobs and AECOM and worked on smart city master plans for a variety of cities such as Detroit, Makkah, Saudi Arabia and Meishan, China. He also participated in numerous asset management assignments for the U.S. Department of Defense and was lead capture manager for the Denver team that was named finalist in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Smart City Challenge grant competition. Rabius will work out of the firm’s Centennial office reporting to energy business leader Larry Head.

“His vision and perspective for the customer of the future will help guide Stanley Consultants to develop new service offerings,” Head said. “We want to be a leader in smart cities and asset management. We don’t want an ‘us too’ approach. And he is that individual to accomplish leadership in this emerging field.”

Rabius defines smart cities as connecting people, assuring safety and security, driving operational efficiency, improving resiliency and financial sustainability.

“I was attracted to Stanley Consultants because of its diverse market capabilities and how they can be applied to smart cities concepts,” Rabius said. “Stanley Consultants is big enough to do the job and small enough to be nimble and flexible to meet the needs of our clients.”

A native of Colorado, Rabius graduated with an architectural engineering degree from Kansas University and has given a large number of lectures and presentations on urban planning during his 24-year career.
